Love Makes You Do Strange Things
My husband, who was my boyfriend at the time, once drove 3 hours to see me. “That’s not strange,” you might say, but he was in the guard and stationed at Ft. Chaffee and was not to leave the base so he went AWOL (absent without leave) to come see me. I’m glad he didn’t get caught for just one day of seeing me but love will make you do strange things. When we got married we couldn’t stand to be apart so he didn’t re-enlist.
Our family for years had been planning on a trip to Orlando Florida, the kids ordered videos, pamphlets and got on-line and got the best deals. We had scheduled it for August of 2008, but in May of that year my husband had a heart attack. He was weak and was told he didn’t need to ride any amusement park rides and to take it easy. On the way home from the hospital the kids said “Dad, its OK, we don’t have to go. We’re just so glad you’re still with us.” He looked at me and said, “I’m still going. I can’t let my children down after saying something so sweet.”
We went and he rode all the rides that the kids did. He lived it up with them. Love will make you do strange things.
Love will make you work your fingers to the bone at 3 jobs, travel far distances, do things you don’t like, and go places you don’t like, but you do them anyway for the one you love just to see them smile and be happy.
John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
Matthew 7:11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Love will make you do strange things!
